October LIMQG Meeting Recap
We started off the meeting by sharing name tags that we created for October's Challenge.
The only rule to designing the name tag was to use fabrics and a design that spoke to who you are as a quilter.
Mario, Lorraine, Kim and Maureen:
Colleen, Elise, Karen and Lorna:
Amy, Madelyn, Janet & Deb:
Next we discussed some quilters and designers that inspire us. It was an interesting discussion that brought our attention to various quilters and designers that many people shared as well as quilters that we have not heard of before.
Colleen was inspired by a designer that was not a quilter! She shared a book by Sonia Delaunay, an artist. Her work extends to painting, textile design and stage set design.
Here is a list with links to websites/blogs of some of the quilters and/or designers that inspire us: Kaffe Fassett http://www.kaffefassett.com/Home.html |

Demonstrations:
Lorraine demonstrated the technique she used to create the stunning quilt to celebrate her son's wedding. She used Victoria Findlay Wolfe's templates to create the modern wedding ring quilt pictured above.
Elise demonstrated the mini-hex-n-more ruler created by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts.
This is the quilt that Elise made with the mini hex-n-more ruler!
Elise demonstrated the ruler by using the larger version. It was easier to demonstrate the quilt construction with a larger template.
Thank you Lorraine and Elise!
