MiniQuilt Raffle @ Shop Hop and Sewcial for Pulse Update

The LIMGQ  booth at the Long Island Shop Hop at Pieceful Quilting was a success.  We were able to introduce our Modern Quilt Guild to the Shop Hoppers, some of which did not know what a modern quilt guild was.
We distributed our newly designed brochure to the Shop Hoppers to help explain a "modern" quilt guild.  We listed the benefits of joining the guild as well as all of our contact information. We hope that the brochure will generate awareness of our guild and to encourage new memberships!

LIMGQ member Lorraine Lucas' daughter, Lauren, was instrumental in creating and designing the colorful brochure.  She also designed our fantastic new guild Logo.  Check it out on the top of this blog!  Thank you so much Lauren!

We would like to thank everyone who bought mini-quilt raffle tickets.

Congratulations to our winners:

Quilt # 1- Joyce S.
Quilt # 2 Mary O.
Quilt # 3 Lorraine L.
Quilt # 4 Kim S.
Quilt # 5 Carol K.
Quilt # 6 Gracie
Quilt # 7 Stella A.

Sew In:  Quilts for Pulse Update

Kim was able to gather up all the extra quilt blocks (about 20!) that we made at the Sew In in July and send them off to Orlando MQG along with a pieced top.
We have two finished quilts that will be sent along shortly. Pictures to follow!

Reminder:

Our next LIMGQ meeting is schedule for September 21 @ Art League of Long  in Dix Hills, NY. Meeting is from 7:30-9:30 pm.
See you there!

PLEASE JOIN US for a Sew-In to make #Quilts for Pulse

Hello!

As you may know, the Orlando MQG has put together a drive for quilt blocks or quilts, which will be assembled and donated to the survivors, victims' families, and emergency workers that helped during the awful tragedy at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. As quilters, making quilts is one way we can reach out to comfort people and a way to help when we're so far away.

On Wednesday, July 27th from 6:30-9pm, LIMOD will be  hosting a Sew-In at the Knights of Columbus in East Northport (9 Hewitt Square, #A). We will be making blocks and putting quilt tops together during the Sew-In, and then sending finished quilts to Alissa Lapinsky, President of the Orlando MQG. Even if you wont be attending the Sew-In, you can contribute by bringing finished blocks to Mary Crisafulli at Pieceful Quilting prior to July 27th.

We are asking for 10" heart blocks in rainbow colors from Cluck Cluck Sew's Heart tutorial to help organize assembly of quilts the night of the Sew-In.

If you would like to help us sew Quilts for Pulse, please RSVP to Kim at contactLIMOD@gmail.comWe welcome all current and former members to help, and encourage you to bring a friend! Cost to attend is $5/person.

Alissa's post with more details can be found at:

The MQG post (with links to block tutorials and a sign up if you will be sending in your own blocks or quilt) can be found here: https://themodernquiltguild.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/quiltsforpulse-charity-drive-with-the-orlando-mqg/

We are looking for people to help with quilting and binding once we have tops together. Please email Kim at contactLIMOD@gmail.com to sign up for that, too!

Thank you to all that contribute!  And we hope to see you on the 27th!

Sincerely,
All of us at LIMOD

LIMOD Sewcial

Ladies,

A reminder that this Sunday, January 31st is our Sewcial Event!

Where?
At Pieceful Quilting.

What Time?
Starting at 11:30 and ongoing till 4pm. Feel free to stop in at any time or stay for the entire day!

What Will We Do?
We will be sewing for charity! We'll be making jackets for adult dogs in connection with the The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind and America's Vet Dogs. Oh, and of course we'll have lots of fun hanging out and sewing together for a good cause.

What Should We Bring?
Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (scissor, needles, seam ripper). Also if you have it, we will need black and yellow thread.
And snacks. Snacks to share are always a good thing!

We are excited to host our first (of hopefully many) Sewcial Event! Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!
